2025 promises to be our busiest year yet of Cultural and Creative course holidays, and we have spread our most popular courses throughout the year, including more painting courses. We have increased the number of places available on our Flamenco course, and will be joined by a Masterchef winner and restaurateur to run our ‘Tastes of Andalucia’ Cookery Course. Our advice, though, is to book early as places will fill very quickly next year: exciting news to come!"
“The flamenco course was a once in a lifetime experience”
– Demica, Flamenco Course 2024
FLAMENCO
DANCE, HISTORY & MUSIC
DATE: 17-24 June 2025
TUTOR: Natalia de la Eva
Andalucia and Flamenco are inextricably intertwined. This 7 day course will explore the history of Flamenco, influences from around the world, its moorish heritage and the modern-day interpretations. You will learn the beats, rhythms, and choreography accompanied by guitar and the cajón. Natalie, our tutor, is English and trained in Sevilla, and her band are Spanish.
DATE: 20-27 May 2025
TUTOR: LINDA RINKE
This course is designed to be an introduction to Trencadís, or Pique Assiette, techniques of cutting and shaping discarded ceramics to make the pieces with which to create mosaic works of art. Students will work on a minimum of two pieces: a small, personal piece that will not be too heavy to take away at the end of the course and a bespoke element for a mosaic mural, enhancing a wall in the host village of Moclín.

ABSTRACT PAINTING
DATE: 20-27 May 2025
TUTOR: CLAIRE CHANDLER
The course looks at what is meant by abstract, expressive painting, compared to representational painting, and guides participants about how to successfully approach, plan and create more abstract work. We will take inspiration from the beautiful setting of Moclín and draw in the surrounding landscapes.
DATE: 16-23 SEPTEMBER 2025
TUTOR: SIMON WOOD
This year, we are thrilled to be able to welcome Masterchef Winner and Restaurateur, Simon Wood, as our tutor.
This special course will take the freshest local ingredients and traditional Andalucian products and create culinary magic. The use of the best Extra Virgin Olive Oil, locally grown vegetables, fish fresh from the sea and meat with provenance is one of the many reasons why life expectancy is so high in Spain.

DATE: 14-21 October 2025
TUTOR: JO HATHAWAY
The course looks at what is meant by abstract, expressive painting, compared with realistic painting, and guides participants about how to successfully approach, plan and create more abstract work.
The rich colours and the beautiful light of southern Spain in June will provide a superb natural palette for self-expression and emotion through art. Working in acrylic paint and gels enables students to create finished work quickly, bringing a vitality to their work.
The course is suitable for everyone, including complete beginners.
DATE: 14-21 October 2025
TUTOR: PENELOPE ANSTICE
In this course we will be using waterbased paint, inks and chalk pastel.
Both watercolour and gouache are welcome and any beginners will be given plenty of guidance in the materials and how to use them.
Mixed media is fun and gives a wonderful freedom and less obligation to adhere to the ‘rules’ of a particular medium.
This area is rich in colour, line and texture and the village and surrounding area present a myriad subjects close to home.
