As we head into our final week of creative holidays of 2025 we are reflecting on what a wonderful whirlwind of cultural weeks we have had here in Moclín. We have loved nothing more than introducing visitors to this beautiful corner of Spain and seeing them fall in love with the village whilst learning new skills. Simply enjoying the peace and time to practice their creativity.
However, having run these courses for six successful years, we have decided to take a brief pause next year and will be running the Mosaic and Abstract Landscape painting holidays only. We plan to return in 2027, so keep watching this space for some fresh new holidays!

During this creative week we will be using waterbased paint, inks and chalk pastel.
Both watercolour and gouache are welcome and any beginners will be given plenty of guidance in the materials and how to use them.
Mixed media is fun and gives a wonderful freedom and less obligation to adhere to the ‘rules’ of a particular medium.
This area is rich in colour, line and texture and the village and surrounding area present a myriad subjects close to home.

This painting holiday looks at what is meant by abstract, expressive painting, compared with realistic painting, and guides participants about how to successfully approach, plan and create more abstract work.
The rich colours and the beautiful light of southern Spain in June will provide a superb natural palette for self-expression and emotion through art. Working in acrylic paint and gels enables students to create finished work quickly, bringing a vitality to their work.
The week is suitable for everyone, including complete beginners.

This mosaic holiday is designed to be an introduction to Trencadís, or Pique Assiette, techniques of cutting and shaping discarded ceramics to make the pieces with which to create mosaic works of art. Guests will work on a minimum of two pieces: a small, personal piece that will not be too heavy to take away at the end of the week and a bespoke element for a mosaic mural, enhancing a wall in the host village of Moclín.
